Workshop Activities

The acceptance of online form for the payment and accomodation is over.
From now on payment can be accepted only on site.

Participation Fee

We request each participant to pay 9,000 yen for the conference materials and all refreshments.
This payment should be done in advance through our webpage mentioned at the top of this page.

Accommodation and travel arrangements

The workshop travel agent is MEITETSU World Travel, Inc. A block of rooms has been booked for workshop participants at the near-by Forest Hongo Hotel. A single room per night costs 9,000yen (tax and service included, without breakfast) during the workshop period. Requests for accommodation will be handled on the `first come, first served' principle while rooms are available. When the rooms are no more available in that hotel, some other hotels will be recommended to you by the travel agent. For those who plan to stay longer or arrive earlier, please contact us at eqis@qci.is.s.u-tokyo.ac.jp/qci.

Canceling charge is as follows:

from 15 days before ... 1,000 yen,
from 5 days before ...50%, and,
after your arrival date ... 100%.

So if you need any change of your accommodation after your application has been sent to us, please let us know as soon as possible.

Excursion

A one-day excursion by a bus, exploring both old and new aspects of Tokyo metropolitan area, is planned on September 9. Please also join it. Excursion is planned as follows:

8:30, We meet at Red-gate of the University of Tokyo.
9:00-10:00, Hamarikyu garden
Sumida River Cruise (option; about 760yen)
10:30-12:00, Asakusa, (those who take a river cruise will arrive around 11:10) Senso-ji temple and Nakamise dori
12:30-15:00, Edo-Tokyo Museum (including lunch (not included in the fee))
15:30-17:00, Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation at Odaiba
17:30, Break up at the Tokyo International Forum
Dinner at Roppongi (not organized)

Please click the corresponding `yes' button at the online application form. Participation fee to this excursion is 2000yen, and will be collected in the beginning of the excursion. The participation fee includes all entrance fees, but does not include lunch, river cruise, trip back from the Tokyo International Forum, and dinner.

Description of the excursion
The excursion trip includes a variety of very interesting and very different places in Tokyo:

One of the most beautiful gardens and a very special hunting ground
Boat trip along Sumida river under 12 bridges providing a splendid view of Tokyo (option; 620yen)
The most famous Tokyo temple and shopping street
A superb and very modern museum, the best in Tokyo, with various real-size bridge and houses constructions, depicting life during the famous Edo era so rich on cultural events
An excellent and very modern museum of emerging sciences, in a new and exclusive area Odaiba, showing where Japan technology is driving in 21st century
Break up at one of the main modern architectural highlights of Tokyo -- International Forum -- rich also on modern cultural events
Browsing in area of Roppongi -- a famous meeting place and a centre of music life in Tokyo -- a very lively place of Tokyo in the evening (unorganized)
