Coupled Josephson Charge Qubits
Jaw-Shen Tsai

Abstract

We have succeeded in constructing an ``integrated'' circuit comprising two coupled charge quantum bits (qubits). Each qubit is based on a Cooper-pair box, and coupling of the qubits is done by using a nanoscale on-chip capacitor. One pulse gate is used to manipulate two-qubit quantum states. The read-out of the circuit is done by a probe electrode attached to each qubit through a tunnel junction. The read-out signal is a pulse induced current measured in each probe. We have measured pulse-induced oscillations of probe currents in time domain and obtained a clear evidence for the interaction between the two coupled qubits.
