How to get to Korea Institute for Advanced Study (KIAS)
From Incheon International Airport
There are several ways to get to KIAS from Incheon International Airport. You may either take the airport limousine or the airport train or use the taxi service. Choose the most convenient way by referring to the following.
Limousine Bus
You may purchase Limousine or Premium Bus tickets at the Transportation Information Counters located indoors (Exit 4 and 9) or outdoors (Exit 4, 6, 7, 8, 11, and 13) on the passenger terminal arrival floor. No. 6002 The most convenient limousine bus to KIAS is No. 6002, bound for Cheongnyangni. The bus stops at the airport are “5B” and “12A”. The fare is 10,000 Korean Won, and the bus departs every 12 to 15 minutes. The first bus departs from the airport at 05:30 and the last bus departs at 23:30. You can get off at ‘Cheongnyangni Station’ bus stop, which will take about an hour and half. Take a taxi to reach KIAS. No. 6101 You can also take the ‘Dobong(Seongdong)’ route, No. 6101. The bus departs from bus stop 3B and 10A and costs 14,000 won. Get off at ‘Korea Univ. Station’ bus stop and take a taxi. ※ Either from Cheongnyangni or Korea Univ. AREX(Airport Express)
Airport trains are available from the airport to Seoul Station, which is the last stop. If you take the commuter train, it will take 53 minutes to Seoul Station and cost you 3,850 Korean won. If you take the express train, it will take 43 minutes to go directly from the airport to Seoul Station and cost you 8,000 Korean won. To reach KIAS from Seoul station, you can either take Subway Line No. 1 to Cheongnyangni station and take a taxi from there, or take a taxi directly. Taxi
If you have heavy luggage, we suggest that you take a taxi. There are two different types of taxis, regular and deluxe (black-colored). In case of the former, it will cost about 70,000 Korean Won from the Incheon International Airport to KIAS including a toll (8,000 Korean Won). If you take a deluxe taxi, it will cost 100,000 Korean Won including toll (8,000 Korean Won). However, please keep in mind that it may cost more depending on traffic conditions. From Gimpo International Airport
There are several ways to get to KIAS from Incheon International Airport. You may either take the airport limousine or the airport train or use the taxi service. Choose the most convenient way by referring to the following.
Limousine Bus (No.15)
You can purchase limousine tickets at the Transportation Information centers located at international gate 1 on the passenger terminal arrival floor. No. 6101 (To Dobong, Seongdong)The ‘Dobong, Seongdong’ route, No. 6101, departs from international gate 1 and costs 7,000 won. Get off at ‘Korea Univ. Station’ bus stop and take a taxi. ※ The taxi from Korea Univ. Station will cost you 3,800 to 4,000 Korean Won. When explaining your destination, show the ‘Direction for Taxi Driver’ to the driver. Taxi
If you have heavy luggage, we suggest that you take a taxi from the airport. There are two different types of taxis, regular and deluxe (black-colored). In case of the former, it will cost about 30,000 Korean Won from the Gimpo International Airport to KIAS. If you take a deluxe taxi, it will cost around twice as more. From Hoegi Station
Bus
From exit No. 1, turn left and follow the sidewalk on the right until you reach the intersection and crosswalk. Cross the street and turn right. Go straight until you see the bus stop. Take No.273 and get off at ‘KAIST Campus/Hong-neung Elementary School’.
Taxi
Take a taxi from exit No.1. Show the ‘Direction for Taxi Driver’ to the taxi driver so that he or she can understand where you are going. It will cost about 4,000 Korean Won.
From Cheongnyangni Station
Bus
When you get out through exit No. 2, ignore the bus stop you see right away and follow the way without making turns until you see another bus stop. Take No. 201 and get off at ‘Hong-neung Elementary School’ bus stop. You will see KIAS(KAIST campus) across the street.
Taxi
Go out through exit No.2 and take a taxi. Show ‘Direction for Taxi Driver’ to the taxi driver so that he or she can understand where you are going. It will cost about 4,000 Korean Won.
